The best part of HJ for me is the fact that virtually everything is voiced and touchable. I like mobile apps as they allow me to practice on the go.

I am considering buying the full version of each (40 total), and I was wondering if this was worth it in your opinion. Heck, had I been able to start with and follow through with HJ as a Beginner, I might be an Intermediate by now! Been using Human Japanese, which has been excellent so far, and Memrise which seems really good for vocab. His writing style is warm and conversational, and he writes as if his audience is adult, self-study learners (that's me!!!). It's well presented and it flows quite organically. For you, I assume it will take a bit longer, but that's ok.

I downloaded the iPad trial and WOW!!! I LOVE it! So much so that after completing the free trial, I purchased the full version along with its companion app, Human Japanese Intermediate (you get a big price break on getting the bundle). Now that I have an iPad (got it 2 weeks ago, yay!), I figured I'd give it another go. I had tried the free trial several years ago, but it was too hard to do on my phone, so I deleted it and moved on to other things. Just this past weekend, I re-discovered the Human Japanese app. I'd classify myself as an Upper Beginner at best (and that's being very generous!). I've been doing self-study of Japanese for several years and although I'm technically not a Beginner, per se, I'm far, far, far from fluent.
